Derby to £40k + benefits

Working for one of Derby's most prestigious employers, our client is seeking a Buyer to complement their existing team. Your remit will be to work on strategic supply chain development themes in areas of materials, forgings, tubing, pipework, plate pressed and formed components/fabrications, machines and semi-finished machined products, etc.

You will support the development and implementation of external supplier and commodity strategies that will drive quality, cost and delivery, with engagement and support of key stakeholders to enhance competitive and commercial performance.

You will have strong focus on cost and be able to negotiate at senior level against key business market entry targets. Crucially, you will work on strategies, negotiate contracts to support the sourcing of products, systems parts and services using appropriate Purchasing and ERP systems.

Ideal candidates will be CIPS qualified and have previous experience of working in an engineering environment. You will have an excellent understanding of company purchasing policies including experience of conducting supplier bid evaluations and negotiations. You will also have knowledge of improvement tools and techniques and will be able to demonstrate your use of these to deliver customer requirements.
